Brunch spots in Toronto

Overall experience: ✨3.9/5✨

💸$25-30/person💸 We grew up in the Middle East, and it's something we're incredibly proud of. It's made us into people who are appreciative of all cultures and religions... and foods. That's what Maha represented to us: home. The feeling of home and belonging.

We walked into a packed restaurant, people huddled shoulder to shoulder, away from the flurries and cold. We could tell this was going to be a good one.

Though the wait was incredibly (read: incredibly, incredibly *underline underline*) long, the 2 hours we spent standing were worth every minute. Maha's does employ a principle of honouring their waiting list. Now this might be a little unfair to the people waiting around, but if your name's on the list and you showed up an hour after you were called, your reservation will be honoured. This type of prioritization is a tad over kill, but I guess it's what makes Maha Maha.

Getting back to the food, God, it's wonderful. By afternoon, we were famished and ordered more than our stomachs' fill. The falafel-covered eggs with spiced potato hash, lemony foul (also known as fava beans) garnished with a sunny side egg, and scrambled eggs with dates were what we went for. Yes, that's right - scrambled eggs with dates. How skeptical we were... how delicious it turned out to be.

Though our words will not do the food justice, just know that it is wonderful, comforting, and just like mum would have made. Plus, the honey cardamom latte is Christmas (Or Eid teehee) in a mug.

We give Maha's a score of 3.9 ☆s out of 5. It's just the wait honestly - and something they could probably work on in the future with a better

system.

Like they say, all good things come in time - and if you're willing to be patient, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
